Roger Abou Khalil, a Fundamental Member of Our Family!
This month, we would like to introduce you to our Physical Therapist, Roger Abou Khalil. Roger has been with us for almost a decade and has become a pillar of our club! He has been the physical but also moral support of all our championship teams and injured players.
What is your specialization? Following my Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy, I decided to specialize in Sports Injuries and Rehabilitation for my Masters degree.
How long have you been at Athletico and do you work elsewhere? I have been at Athletico for 8 years. The club members can find me there every Monday, Thursday and Friday from 5:30 PM till 9 PM. Aside from Athletico, I have been working with Anta Akhi – an NGO that gives support to adults with physical, mental and multiple disabilities – where I focus on the rehabilitation for neuromuscular diseases and cerebral palsy.
Can you give us more details about your services at Athletico? As a physical therapist, I can rehabilitate all pediatric and adult injuries. In addition, I attend games and training sessions to apply physical therapy on the field in case of any accident and ensure clinical therapy for severe cases that can’t be only treated on the field.
What is the equipment that you have? This is a highly important question. I would like everyone to know that we are fully equipped with all the needed materials for any physical rehabilitation.
Do you follow up with your players? Of course, after the sessions, I provide surveillance of minimum 1-2 weeks during which I test them and guide them step by step so they would be able to train again. Every person who suffers from a physical injury cannot and should not directly go back to his old routine; there should always be a procedure to slowly get back in the game.
Is there any other statement that you would like to add? I would like to tell all Athletico Family from all branches that I am at their full disposal in case of any injury. Parents are more than welcome to contact me for any inquiry or advice concerning their kids or even themselves, noting that upon registering in the monthly training, players receive a full physical therapy coverage.
